‘Zaroori tha’ will get a new life as Bollywood song, says Rahat Fateh Ali Khan

The sound track of Emraan Hashmi and Vidya Balan starrer ‘Hamari Adhuri Kahani’ includes a song ‘Zaroori tha’ from Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s 2014 album ‘Back 2 Love’.

Overjoyed with filmmaker Mohit Suri’s decision, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan said that his album has received overwhelming response and the inclusion of the hit number ‘Zaroori tha’ in the film was truly an icing on the cake.

“The song will now get a new life as a Bollywood song and will reach out to a much wider audience,” the 41-year-old singer said.

The song originally featured Gauhar Khan and Kushal Tandon, the couple who found love in reality show ‘Big Boss’ season 7.

In ‘Hamari Adhuri Kahani’ the song is picturised on Vidya and Emraan and captures the central theme of the film.

Film’s director Suri said, “I firmly believe that a song finds a film and shapes its destiny. In my experience with music in most of my films, I have always found one of my key songs last. ‘Zaroori tha’ is one such song, and to me it feels like this song was always written for ‘Hamari Adhuri Kahani’.”

Producer Mukesh Bhatt said he has very rarely found a song that expresses the story between two people so strongly. “This heartbreaking song from Rahat has given great power to our love saga. Only a singer like him could capture the soul of this situation,” Bhatt added.

‘Hamari Adhuri Kahani’ will be released under Bhatt’s banner Vishesh Films on June 12.

The Pakistani singer has lent his voice to numerous Bollywood songs, like ‘Tere mast mast do nain’ (Dabangg), ‘Jag soona soona lage’ (Om Shanti Om), ‘Teri ore’ (Singh is King) including several others, and enjoys massive popularity in India as well.
