I was bipolar and an alcoholic, Yo Yo Honey Singh

Popular rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh suddenly disappeared from public eye in late 2014 and was missing for the scene for almost 18 months. Speculations were rife that the ‘Lungi Dance’ singer was taking treatment in a rehabilitation centre for drug abuse. Some reports also said that he had a fall-out with Shah Rukh Khan during an overseas tour and he wasn’t getting any new projects.

Now, Honey is back to claim his spot and has also performed at the recently held Mirchi Music Awards. He has opened up about the ‘missing period’ and cleared the airs over the rumours that did the rounds while he was not around.

In an interview with a leading daily, Honey said that he was holed up in his Noida house, struggling with bipolar disorder which was aggravated because of his addiction to alcohol.

"I was suffering from bipolar disorder. It went on for 18 months, during which I changed four doctors, the medication wasn't working on me and crazy things were happening," he told.

The ‘King of Rap’ also revealed to the daily that during those days he penned over 50 poems and intends to publish them some day. He said that his fans should see the dark phase he successfully battled to come out a winner.

Rubbishing the reports about his tiff with Shah Rukh, Honey said that the ‘Dilwale’ star used to call him up regularly during his darkest phase to enquire about his health.

Honey will be next seen in his first Punjabi action-thriller ‘Zorawar’ as the solo lead in the role of a soldier searching for his identity. The film is slated to release on May 6. He was earlier seen in 2014 Bollywood film ‘The Xpose’’.
