Yami Gautam’s role in ‘Kaabil’ is an extended cameo

Bollywood actress Yami Gautam will be starring opposite Hrithik Roshan in the upcoming film ‘Kaabil’ and the actress is quite excited about it. But, the ‘Vicky Donor’ actress was not the first choice for the film.

According to reports, A-list heroines like Kareena Kapoor Khan and Parineeti Chopra turned down the offer after which the role landed in Yami’s lap.

The leading lady in the film doesn’t have much screen-presence and it is not a meaty role. The heroine dies before the interval itself and the story revolves around a blind man who takes revenge for the brutal rape and murder of his girlfriend. Hrithik and Yami will play visually impaired characters in the film.

As per the story of the film, Yami’s role in the film will be over in the first half and the seemingly extended cameo appearance of the character might be the reason that none of the big heroines accepted the offer.

Yami who shot to fame with her role in Soojit Sircar’s critically acclaimed film ‘Vicky Donor’, wasn’t seen in any major role after her debut in 2012. In Ajay Devgn starrer ‘Action Jackson’, she played a brief role that hardly made a difference. In Sriram Raghavan’s 2015 thriller ‘Badlapur’ opposite Varun Dhawan, her character’s death formed the turning point of the film.

‘Kaabil’ will be directed by Sanjay Gupta and will be produced by Rakesh Roshan. The revenge thriller will go on floors soon with the first schedule in Hyderabad. It is slated for a release on January 26, 2017.

Meanwhile, Yami’s romantic drama opposite Pulkit Samrat released today, February 12.
