When Sanjay Dutt wanted to beat up Ranbir's dad Rishi Kapoor
Actor Ranbir Kapoor is prepping up to portray Sanjay Dutt’s character in the latter’s biopic. And irony of the situation is that there was a time when the ‘Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.’ actor wanted to thrash Ranbir’s father Rishi Kapoor.
It was when Rishi Kapoor was still unmarried and had apparently developed a liking for Sanjay Dutt’s then girlfriend. The ‘Kapoor & Sons’ actor had mentioned about the incident in his recently released biography ‘Khullam Khulla’. The veteran actor revealed that Sanjay Dutt, along with his then good friend Gulshan Grover landed up at his doorstep to beat him up over and alleged affair.
“It’s true. Sanju was having an affair with Tina Munim at the time, and he thought that Chintu (as Rishi is referred to by his friends) was having one with her too. Sanju and I were like brothers, and he told me one day, ‘We have to go to Chintu’s house and beat him up’. We went to do that, but his fiancée Neetuji managed to convince us that Chintu was not in any such relationship. So we left,” Gulshan Grover is mentioned as saying in the biography.
Gulshan is known for playing negative roles in movies and is famous as the ‘Bad Man’ in Bollywood. Talking about his current relationship with the two actors now, Gulshan told DNA in an interview, “Though we are in touch, it’s not the same anymore. I adore Chintu and keep meeting him. But with Sanju, the problem is I would keep giving him correct advice and he does not like that so he creates situations where he can avoid those very people who give him good advice (laughs).”
Meanwhile, the yet-untitled Sanjay Dutt biopic has been written by Rajkumar Hirani, who is also directing it. The film also stars Paresh Rawal in the role of Sanjay’s dad, late actor Sunil Dutt, while Dia Mirza will play the role of his wife Manyata. Besides, Anushka Sharma, Sonam Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal and Jim Sarbh of ‘Neerja’ fame will play pivotal roles.
The film went on floors last month.
