When Salman Khan convinced Jacqueline to turn mother

Jacqueline Fernandez is playing a mother in Karan Johar’s upcoming film, ‘Brothers’ starring Akshay Kumar and Sidharth Malhotra. Jacqueline was at first apprehensive to play mother on-screen but Salman convinced her to play mother on-screen as it would boost up her career.

“I discussed it with Salman and he convinced me to say yes. He told me it would benefit me and that here was a chance for me to prove myself through performance and I should not worry about the glamour and styling taking it away. I thought if I could pull this off, it would be fantastic for me and my credentials as an actor. I pretty much owe it to Karan and Salman for believing that I could carry off the role,” DNA quoted Jacqueline as saying.

Apart from Salman Khan, Karan Johar and Karan Malhotra also convinced Jacqueline to play the part. “Both the Karans (Johar and Malhotra) came to me with the story of Brothers. I met them at the office and he told me what this movie is about and that they wanted me to play Jenny Fernandes. I was like, ‘Why would they want me in the film?’ I was a little apprehensive about taking on an intense role like this. You are playing a mother and there are too many stereotypes attached to that. So I was a little sceptical.”

Not only Jacqueline, Salman Khan also convinced Jackie Shroff to take up his role in ‘Brothers’. The veteran actor was earlier skeptical in playing the intense role but the superstar convinced him.

Jacqueline essays the role of Jenny Fernandes, wife of David Fernandes (played by Akshay Kumar).

‘Brothers’, an official remake of Hollywood movie ‘Warrior’ revolves around two warring brothers and the film is slated for August 14 release.
