When Ajay Devgn turned down ‘Bajirao Mastani’

Ajay Devgn, who is riding high on the success of ‘Singham Returns’ has turned down Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus ‘Bajirao Mastani’. Before Ranveer Singh, Bhansali approached Ajay for the film but the actor did not agree due to non-settlement of certain terms and conditions.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali wanted 200 days from the actor to shoot the mega budget movie but Ajay declined as he is not ready to give so much time to one movie. Ajay failed to give so much time to ‘Bajirao Mastani’ as he would soon begin the shooting of his own directorial ‘Shivay’ next year.

Not only dates but the actor and the filmmaker part ways on the monetary matter too.

Confirming the report, Ajay Devgn told a tabloid, "I was approached for the lead role... but we couldn't agree on the terms and conditions... dates, money everything."

But Sanjay Leela Bhansali had a different answer to Ajay’s drop-out from the film. He commented that Devgn was dropped because his character in ‘Singham’ and ‘Bajrao Mastani’ shared same name.

Visibly surprised at Bhansali's excuse, Ajay, said, "What you are saying is something I am hearing for the first time. While Singham Returns has released now, Sanjay's film will release in December next year so there's a lot of time for people to forget about Bajirao Singham (laughs). What is wrong about admitting that we couldn't agree on the T&C? (terms and conditions) Let's be honest about that. Even I can make better excuses!"

'Bajirao Mastani' will now go on floor with Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone.
