Welcome Back: Amitabh, Rekha reunite 32 years after ‘Silsila’

A controversial, electrifying, age defying and alleged love couple are back together with Anees Bazmee’s upcoming comedy ‘Welcome Back’. Producer Firoz Nadiadwala and director Anees Bazmee confirmed the news. They are in talks with megastar Amitabh Bachcahn and scintillating Rekha to act together in the sequel to the blockbuster, ‘Welcome’.

If all goes according to plan then we will get to see Amitabh Bachchan stepping into the shoes of late actor Feroz Khan. He will portray the role of RDX and Rekha an affluent fashionista.

"We are considering Rekhaji for a role which will have love angle between Nana and Anil. But it is too early to talk about all this as nothing is decided and confirmed. As there are three-four veteran actresses that we are thinking of it all depends if they like it or not, their dates and money issues," Bazmee told reporters.

Bazmee has not yet met Rekha and discussed the script with her. "I am a huge fan of Rekhaji. I wanted to work with her. I feel since it`s a comedy film, Rekhaji will do justice to her part as she has a superb comic timing," he said.

Added Bazmee, "Nadiadwala has bounced it off Rekhaji too. I have yet to meet both of them, which I plan to do in the next seven-eight days."

A source close to the development said, "Neither Amitabh nor Rekha have expressed any apprehensions so far about working together in Welcome Back. And yes they do have scenes together."

Rekha and Amitabh Bachcahn’s mystery love story always keep the gossip mill churning. The two first acted in hit movies like `Do Anjaane` (1976), `Muqaddar Ka Sikander` (1978), `Mr Natwarlal` (1979), `Suhaag` (1979), `Silsila` (1981) and few more. Their chemistry was always talked about. They are considered a sizzling on-screen pair of the past.

Bazmee assures audience will get to see a new side of Big B in the film, he said, "Bachchan saab has done almost every role in his life but I can assure you that this one will be something terrific and special for him. The role will also be much longer than what Feroz saab essayed."

Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor will reprise their role in the sequel while John Abraham and Shruti Hassan are the new additions. The film is expected to go on floors in a month.
