Weekend collection: Salman Khan’s ‘Tubelight’ earns Rs 66 cr


In the opening weekend, Salman Khan’s Eid release ‘Tubelight’ collected Rs 66 crore. ‘Tubelight’ has not fared well at the ticket counter and it performed lower than what expected. On Friday, the film earned Rs 21.15 crore, on Saturday, it collected Rs 21.17 crore and on Sunday it earned Rs 22 crore, totaling to Rs 66 crore.

Kabir Khan’s ‘directional venture ‘Tubelight’ also opened with negative reviews. Salman seems composed with the critics’ reviews. In an interview to IANS, he said, "The critics were really good. I was expecting minus 3 and minus 4 but they gave 1, 1.5 apparently, so I am very pleased."

Made on a budget of Rs 100 crore, ‘Tubelight’ released across 4350 screens in India and on 1200 in the overseas market.

With Indo-China war at the backdrop, the film also features Sohail Khan, Chinese actress Zhu Zhu and Arunachal Pradesh’s little boy  Matin Rey Tangu.

'Tubelight' is a war-drama starring Salman Khan, Sohail Khan, Zhu Zhu, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayub, Om Puri and Shah Rukh Khan in a cameo. It has been directed by Kabir Khan and is set in the backdrop of Indo-Sino War of 1962. The movie is said to be an adaption of 2015 American film ‘Little Boy’.

The film revolves around two brothers Laxman (Salman Khan) and Bharat Singh Bisht (Sohail Khan). The slow IQ boy Laxman is extremely close to his brother, and is broken down when his brother joins the Army to fight against the Chinese forces in the 1962 Sino-Indian War. It tells how Laxman brings back Bharat home.

Hope, ‘Tubelight’ performs well in the coming days and register a promising box-office collection.
