Weekend box-office: ‘Raabta’ earns Rs 15.93 cr; ‘Behen Hogi Teri’ falls flat

Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon’s romantic drama ‘Raabta’ and Rajkumar Rao-Shruti Haasan starrer comedy ‘Behen Hogi Teri’ released in theatres last Friday, but both the films failed to perform at the box-office.

Directed by Dinesh Vijan,‘Raabta’ managed to make a decent weekend total of Rs 15.93 crore. The much-talked about film failed to live up to the hype and earned Rs 5.61 crore on its opening. On day two, Saturday, the figure slightly dipped to Rs 5.11 crore, while the Sunday collection was slightly more but less than its opening amount and was pegged at Rs 5.21 crore.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the figures on Twitter and wrote, “#Raabta Fri 5.61 cr, Sat 5.11 cr, Sun 5.21 cr. Total: Rs 15.93 cr. India biz.”

On the other hand, Ajay K Pannalal’s directorial ‘Behen Hogi Teri’, starring Shruti Haasan opposite Rajkumar Rao was a complete washout. Despite getting better reviews than ‘Raabta’, the comedy film could earn only Rs 1.30 crore approximately, on its first weekend. However, unlike ‘Raabta’, there was a consistent growth in its nominal collection. The movie minted Rs 35 lakh on Friday, added another Rs 45 lakh on Saturday, and reportedly raked in around Rs 50 lakh on Sunday to reach the weekend total of Rs 1.30 crores (approx.).

While ‘Raabta’ released on 1820 screens, ‘Behen Hogi Teri’ was screened on 757 screens across the country.
