Watch: Akshay dances to 'Alcoholic' song from 'The Shaukeens'

The trailer of the upcoming comedy film ‘The Shaukeens’ is out and superstar Akshay Kumar is seen playing himself in an extended cameo role. The female lead is played by Lisa Haydon while the ‘Shaukeens’ of the title are- Anupam Kher, Piyush Mishra and Annu Kapoor. It is a remake of the 1982 comedy ‘Shaukeen’.

In the 1982 version, Ashok Kumar, Utpal Dutt and A.K Hangal played the ‘Shaukeens’ while Mithun Chakraborty and Rati Agnihotri played the other two main roles. However Akshay will not be playing the role of Mithun but himself. The film will release on 7th November and has been directed by Abhishek Sharma of ‘Tere Bin Laden’ fame.

Akshay Kumar recently revealed that he will be playing an alcoholic superstar in the film through a post on Twitter. He said, “The Shaukeens’ are here! Three old yet young men, a hot girl and an alcoholic superstar played by yours truly in a special appearance. Let me know what you guys think of the trailer."

Akshay is also one of the producers of the film. Akshay seems to have taken the alcoholic superstar tag very seriously as he also featured in a song titled 'Haan Main Alcoholic Hoon'. The song has been composed and performed by rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh with whom Akshay has collaborated frequently. Akshay reportedly asked Honey Singh to do one special song for the film but the rapper informed that he is ready to do three. The song has been written by Sahil Kaushal and has some rather silly lines like “daaru ko main dudu ki tarah pee jaoo” (I drink alchohol like its milk).

Although Akshay Kumar is a teetotaler in real life he seems to enjoy playing an alcoholic. His character also shows some other negative traits like arrogance.  He recently said to the media jokingly, "I know many actors who say that they are drinking coconut water or juice but they are actually drinking liquor…I am playing my own self just that we have put a negative track to my character. I am shown drinking alcohol which I don't in real life. We wanted to add some colour to my character and I had fun playing the part." He also added, "I am playing a special appearance in the film but it's my film and I am happy about this film and I will support the film in every way."
