Veteran Telugu actor J V Ramana Murthy passes away at 83

Veteran Telugu actor and stage artiste J V Ramana Murthy passed away on Wednesday, June 22. He was 83. The actor was undergoing treatment for heart ailment for some time at Banjara Hills Star Hospital where he breathed his last.  

Murthy made his debut at the age of 24 with the 1957 film ‘MLA’. He began acting since his childhood as a stage artiste and gained recognition for essaying the role of ‘Girisam’ in Gurazada’s the epoch-making play ‘Kanyasulkam’. In his career span of over four decades, he has acted in around 150 films including ‘Maro Charitra’, ‘Idi Kadha Kadu’ and ‘Aakali Rajyam’.

He was born on May 20, 1933 in Andhra Pradesh’s Vizianagaram as Jonnalagadda Venkata Ramana Murthy.
