Actress Sadhana walks the ramp with Ranbir Kapoor

Yesteryears actress Sadhana who ruled the silver screen in the late 60’s and starred in blockbusters like ‘Love In Simla’, ‘Who Kaun Thi’, ‘Mera Saaya’ and ‘Ek Phool Do Mali’ finally came out in the open and walked the ramp for designer Shaina NC and Vikram Phadnis. The ramp show was organized to support a noble cause it supports cancer and AIDS patients. Sadhana was accompanied by the present heartthrob of Bollywood, Ranbir Kapoor.

The actress looked elegant in pink saree. She handled the situation with poise and care when her blouse slipped down on ramp. “I thank CPPA for all the wonderful efforts they are doing, spreading awareness about the causes, preventions and the treatment of the disease,” said Ranbir Kapoor. Sadhana, aunt of Karisma and Kareena (Babita’s cousin) confined herself to the four walks of the house after retirement as she does not want her audience to see her as an aged woman. She wants her loved ones always remember her as a beautiful Sadhana from her young days.  

During the shooting of ‘Love In Shimla’, she fell in love with director R.K Nayyar and despite family opposition, they tied the knot on March 7, 1966. After 30 years of happily married life, R.K Nayyar passed away due to asthma and since then Sadhana has been living a lonely life as they had got no children.

She then suffered eyes disorder due to hyperthyroidism and was treated in Boston. She returned to films and had a successful comeback with ‘Intaqam’, ‘Ek Phool Do Mali’, ‘Aap Aaye Bahaar Ayee’, etc.

Sadhana has been honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) in 2002. She currently resides in Mumbai as a tenant in an apartment building owned by singer Asha Bhosle.

The charity fashion show saw personalities from both film and television industries including Ranbir Kapoor, Vivek Oberoi, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Sakshi Tanwar, Rashmi Desai and Vidya Malvade among others.
