Actress Sadhana undergoes operation, condition stable
Veteran actress Sadhana underwent operation on Tuesday for a lesion in her mouth at a suburban hospital in Mumbai and her condition is said to be stable. The legendary actress was admitted to K.J. Somaiya Hospital in Mumbai and underwent a nine hour mouth surgery at the Asian Institute of Oncology, conducted by Dr. Deepak Parikh.
"She had a small lesion in her mouth which we operated
on. She had fluctuations in blood pressure levels for which we have kept her in
the ICU and her condition is being closely monitored," Director at Asian
Institute of Oncology in Chunabhatti, Dr Deepak Parikh told PTI.
When the doctors were inquired whether the tumour of the 73-year-old
actress was cancerous, Dr Deepak said it can only be confirmed through her
pathology report.
"We have to wait for her pathology report to confirm if the lesion was
cancerous. We cannot say anything about it at present," he said.
"She is on the way to recovery and is totally stable for now. The media reports that she was in a serious condition and of internal bleeding are completely false and is disturbing for family members," Dr Deepak said.
Sadhana was the reigning queen of Bollywood in the 60’s. She is known for films like 'Love in Shimla', 'Hum Dono', 'Mere Mehboob', 'Woh Kaun Thi', 'Rajkumar', 'Mera Saaya', 'Waqt' among others. After quitting films, Sadhana almost disappeared from public glare. She confined herself to house and only recently, she was seen walking the ramp with Ranbir Kapoor at a recent fashion show which was a fund raising event for cancer and AIDS patients.
We wish the actress a speedy recovery!
