Veena Malik blames ex-boyfriend for ‘anti-India’ tweet

Pakistani model-actress Veena Malik is in the news for her anti-India tweet. The controversial actress, who just got married to Dubai-based businessman, on Sunday, accused her former boyfriend Prashant Singh of hacking into her Twitter account and using it to post anti-India tweets. Veena was trending on the micro-blogging site on Saturday for a tweet, which read, ‘@iVeenaMalik: India sucks.....!!!’ (sic).

Veena, who is in Dubai at present, was quoted in the media as saying, “My Twitter account was hacked in December, last year, by my digital manager from India, Prashant, who is part of a Mumbai-based web service company. I had a three-year contract with his company but after two years I chose to discontinue the association. The company continued to keep a track of my account, but after I got married Prashant started blackmailing me. He started demanding money and said that he would not give me my account details otherwise.sss”

Earlier, while in Islamabad, Veena had accused her former manager of betraying her and posting controversial photographs on her ‘hacked’ Facebook page and Twitter account.

According to reports, Veena decided not to take any legal action against Prashant because she now lives in Dubai after getting married to Asad Bashir Khan. “I was not travelling to India at that time, since I was busy with the wedding functions. But, now this has been blown out of proportion. This morning, I woke up and saw this tweet. Though my husband is very supportive, it is embarrassing to trend for such a reason,” she added.

Incidentally, Prashant was also seen tweeting, ‘@iPrashantSingh: I can make ppl trend.......(sic).’

Reportedly, she also talked about India’s contribution to her career and said, “India has given me a career and a lot of respect. I have been an ambassador of sorts between India and Pakistan. Obviously, I love my country more, but I have immense respect for India. I have always been transparent and this is not what I would expect in return.”

In 2013, the actress was seen in a couple of Bollywood films such as ‘Zindagi 50-50’, ‘Supermodel’ and also starred in a Kannada film ‘Dirty Picture: Silk Sakkath Maga’, which was a box-office hit. In 2014, she will appear in a Bollywood horror flick ‘Mumbai 125 KM 3D’ and in also in a Punjabi movie titled, ‘Eh Dil Da Mamla’.

Before beginning her career on the big-screen, Veena worked as a comedian for television shows and serials.
