Varun, John’s chopper scene in ‘Dishoom’ is costliest ever in Bollywood

Varun Dhawan and John Abraham starrer upcoming flick ‘Dishoom’ has some mind blowing action scenes. If reports are to be believed, the makers of the action-adventure film have spent a whopping Rs 3 crores in one of the action sequences.

The scene in question is the helicopter scene that also appears in the trailer. And with the amount invested for shooting the sequence, it has become the most expensive action sequence ever shot for a Bollywood.

Besides being the costliest scene, it is also apparently the longest chase sequence in a Hindi film. It is said that the sequence clocks 11-12 minutes.

According to a statement, the helicopter sequence was shot in Morocco with trained fighters and most of the crew was international. Multiple choppers were stationed to capture John and Varun on the chopper while they did the stunts. All this while, special attention was given to safety of each of them. All these added up to the cost.

‘Dishoom’ revolves around two cops’ manhunt for India’s top batsman who gets kidnapped 36 hours before the final match between India and Pakistan in the Gulf.

Varun plays the role of a local cop named Junaid who joins Special Task Force officer Kabir Shergill, played by John, to rescue cricketer Viraj Sharma, played by Saqib Salem. The duo is helped by Jacqueline Fernandez who has two identities of R&AW agent Parvati and ISI agent Pakeezah. Akshaye Khanna, who will be seen after a gap of four years, plays the baddie. The movie also stars Nargis Fakhri in a cameo.

Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by Varun’s elder brother Rohit Dhawan, ‘Dishoom’ will hit theatres on July 29.
