Varun Dhawan out, Deepika Padukone to play lead role in 'Badlapur 2'

Varun Dhawan, who played the lead role in ‘Badlapur’ won’t be seen in the sequel. It is buzzed that Deepika Padukone has replaced Varun to play the lead role in ‘Badlapur 2

Producer Dinesh Vijan has worked with Deepika Padukone in 'Cocktail', 'Love Aaj Kal' and 'Finding Fanny' and considers Deepika his lucky mascot. He even roped in the actress to do a play special number in ‘Raabta’ and now he has signed the actress for ‘Badlapur 2’.

The daily further quoted a source saying, "A sequel to Badlapur, with a female protagonist and a completely new cast, is being planned. Dinesh has bounced the idea off to Deepika and she has loved it. It's a character-driven role, just like Varun's was in Badlapur. The script isn't ready yet and once that's done, the producer will give the actress a full narration and get her dates blocked for the film."

‘Badlapur’ has shown Varun in a completely different avatar. He will always be remembered for his angry man avatar. The film tells the story of a man who goes on a killing spree to seek revenge for his loved ones.

Meanwhile, Deepika Padukone is currently busy  shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's ‘Padmavati’ and will start the shooting for ‘Badlapur 2’ only in mid 2018.
