Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt meet with an accident

While it is kind of exciting to watch cars crash on the big screen, in real life it could be really nerve wrecking. Young Bollywood stars Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt realized it the hard way when they had a close shave with a car accident. The duo was in the city of Ahmedabad to promote their upcoming film ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania.’ On Monday morning while they were on their way to an event from the airport, their luxury sedan car was hit by another car. The other car belonged to JN Parmar, Assistant Commissioner of Police,(G Division, Ahmedabad).

According to media reports the incident occurred during 11 AM in the morning but thankfully no one was hurt. A source close to the actors has said, "Both the stars were seated at the back of the sedan at around 11 am and the car had stopped at a traffic signal. The driver behind their car lost control and rammed the sedan. The impact shattered the rear windscreen completely. Glasses thrown on the backseat, Varun and Alia jumped out visibly shaken but unhurt." As crowd started gathering in the spot, the stars were picked up by another car and driven away.

However as per a police source Alia was not in the car. The source claimed, "Alia was not inside the car when it met with the accident. She was supposed to be in it but Varun and she took another vehicle." Interestingly JN Parmar was due to retire from police service on the same day. The now former officer later told the media that his car was indeed involved in an accident. He said, "Yes, my car met with an accident on Monday morning. Fortunately, I was not in the car. Since the driver told me that the matter had been settled, I didn't ask him for details." Varun Dhawan told the media about the accident but did not reveal whether Alia was in the car or not. Varun Said, "I was in the yellow Audi whose rear glass was completely shattered. It was very scary."

Both Varun and Alia are constantly travelling these days. They are visiting various cities across the country for promotion of ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania.’ Directed by debutant Shashank Khaitan and produced by Karan Johar, the film is slated to release on 11th July 2014. Two songs from the film ‘Samjhawan’ and ‘Saturday Saturday’ have become quite popular.
