‘Udta Punjab’ will be remembered for its story, says Kareena

Kareena Kapoor Khan is busy promoting her soon-to-be-released film ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and everyone is expecting that the Salman Khan starrer-film will take the box-office by storm. But the actress couldn’t care less about the number game of her next project ‘Udta Punjab’.

According to Kareena, ‘Udta Punjab’ has a remarkable story. “There are some films which won't do 150 crores, but will be remembered for their story. ‘Udta Punjab’ is one such film. People will talk about the content more than the box office figures,” the ‘Heroine’ actress said.

Directed by Abhishek Chaubey, ‘Udta Punjab’ tells the story of drug abuse in the interiors of Punjab. The film stars Punjabi singer-actor Daljit Dosanjh opposite Kareena. Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt are also featured in the film. Alia plays the role of a rape victim who takes to drugs.

“‘Udta Punjab’ is a brilliant film. I loved the story. It is one of those films where you don't have to do too much to get your emotions out. When Abhishek was narrating the film to me, I didn't know whether I wanted to cry or what else I wanted to do. The first thought was I wanted to do the film at any cost,” said Kareena who will be seen in the role of a doctor in the film.

She had earlier also played a doctor in ‘Kambakkht Ishq’ which starred Akshay Kumar as the male lead. Her role in the 2009 film by Sabbir Khan was glamorous, but ‘Udta Punjab’ being a film about the prevalent drug culture in the state, her role is different.

Kareena said her track in the film is totally different. “It is a three track film. Alia, Shahid and I aren't paired together but we are part of the same drug drama,” she said.

‘Udta Punjab’ is produced by Phantom films and Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Motion Pictures.

Meanwhile, her film ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ which has generated a huge buzz will hit screens this Eid.
