‘Udta Punjab’ song: Diljit Dosanjh’s ‘Ikk Kudi’ rendition is soulful

After 'Chitta ve' featuring Shahid Kapoor as rockstar, the makers of upcoming film ‘Udta Punjab’ launched the film’s second song 'Ikk Kudi' on Wednesday. The song has been sung by pop sensation of Punjab Diljit Dosanjh, who also stars in the movie.

The soulful song is picturised on Alia Bhatt who plays a Bihari migrant and an aspiring hockey player in the film. The song depicts Alia’s attempts to become a hockey player and her transformation while playing the sport. The nearly three-minute video oscillates between Diljit singing and Alia’s journey which has been beautifully captured.

The song is actually a poem written by renowned Punjabi poet Late Shri Shiv Kumar Batalvi. Amit Trivedi has composed the music.

Directed by Abhishek Chaubey, ‘Udta Punjab’ is a realistic and hard-hitting film about substance abuse in Punjab.

Diljit who is making his Bollywood acting debut with the film will be seen in the role of a police officer named Sartaj Singh. Shahid plays rock star Tommy Singh, while Kareena Kapoor Khan plays a doctor named Shivani Gupta.

The film traces the journey of the four characters who find themselves tangled amidst the prevalent drug menace in Punjab. The trailer of the movie released last month was very much appreciated and the movie will hit screens on June 17.
