Twiterratis congratulate Anushka Sharma for team India’s win in Sri Lanka

Actress Anushka Sharma received a slew of congratulatory messages on Twitter after team India won the test series against Sri Lanka on its soil after 22 long years under the captaincy of the actress’ beau Virat Kohli.

While Prime Minister Narendra Modi and cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar among many others congratulated the team on the historic win on Monday, some twitteratis were of the view that Anushka too deserved to be congratulated.

The ‘Bombay Velvet’ actress was at the receiving end of abuses when India lost the World Cup semi-final match against Australia earlier this year. Virat was out after making just one run.

The cricketer’s girlfriend Anushka who was present in the stands became the target of abuses and mean jokes. Twitter users who blamed her for Virat’s poor performance and team India’s loss. So it was only just that she should be applauded when team India wins, if she is blamed for its loss.

Singer, actress and former MTV VJ Sophie Choudhry was among the many who congratulated her. “Hey babe @anushkasharma ..Well done for making India & Virat win! Logic na..u ought to get the bouquets not just the damn brickbats! Hugs,” she tweeted.
