TV actress Alka Kaushal jailed for two years

Television actress Alka Kaushal is in legal hassle. The actress who played Kareena Kapoor’s mother in the blockbuster movie, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ was sent to jail for two years in cheque bounce case. Alka and her mother failed to prove themselves innocent in a cheque bounce case.

According to reports, Alka and her mother borrowed Rs 50 lakh from a farmer Avtar Singh based in Lagrian village, to make a serial, but they failed to return his money. Alka, sister of telly actor Varun Badola cut two cheques of Rs 25 lakh each but both the cheques bounced, Avtar’s advocate Sukhbir Singh Punia said.

The farmer moved to Malerkotla court back in 2015 and the court found Alka and her mother guilty. Alka then appealed at Sangrur for some relief, but the additional session's court upheld the lower court's decision on Wednesday. The actress and her mother are now locked in Sangrur district jail.

Alka Kaushal has also worked in Marathi cinema and several popular Hindi TV shows including Qubool Hai, Swaragini and Kumkum. She also played Kangana Ranaut’s mother in Queen (2014).
