Trailer: Watch Sunny Deol, Sakshi Tanwar in ‘Mohalla Assi’

Sunny Deol and Sakshi Tanwar’s ‘Mohalla Assi’ shows an altogether different picture of the holy place Kashi. The place of Lord Shiva where bhakt from different parts of the world come to visit is also a tourist hub, where many illegal events take place.

There is a different face behind the dhoti-clad shadus, chanting mantras. They too involved in various illicit activities. From cheating to sex, Kashi is shown a hub of all unlawful goings-on. The trailer actually reveals the dark side in the bylanes of the city in a very tricky way. The amalgamation of foreigner and desi sadhus and cuss words makes the trailer interesting.

The USP of the trailer is Sunny Deol, who after a long hiatus is seen in Bollywood. He plays a Sanskrit teacher and the most interesting fact is that he too mouthed expletives in the film. Sakshi Tanwar plays his loud-mouth wife, who also spouts expletives in ‘Mohalla Assi’

Ravi Kishen plays the tourist guide and performed his role brilliantly in purely desi style.

The movie depicts the true picture of Kashi but it might run in trouble from religious group and might face some heat from the censor board. The title is taken from the famous Assi Ghat in Varanasi that is a major tourist.

The movie was actually filmed in 2011 but it was held back for some reasons but now producer Vinay Tiwari has confirmed the release of the film in October or November.

‘Mohalla Assi’, directed by ‘Pinjar’ helmed by Chandra Prakash Dwivedi, is loosely based on the famous Hindi novel ‘Kashi Ka Assi’ written by Dr Kashinath Singh.
