Trailer: Akshay Kumar, Bhumi’s ‘Toilet-Ek Prem Katha’ is all about love and toilet

Akshay Kumar’s movies are always much awaited one and now the trailer of his next venture, titled ‘Toilet-Ek Prem Katha’ starring Bhumi Pednekar in the female lead is out and it gives us a strong social message of sanitation with divine love at the backdrop.

The trailer sends a strong message of PM Narendra Modi’s ‘Swach Bharat’ campaign and dignity of women.

The trailer opens with Akshay Kumar (Keshav) expressing his desire of getting married to his father. His father agreed but first he made him to get married to a buffalo so that the ill effects in his kundali wipes out.

One day, Akshay came across a beautiful girl Bhumi Pednekar (Jaya) and he fell in love. Jaya and Keshav got married and now the real problem starts, defecation. Jaya, who is a progressive thinker and comes from a well to do family shocked to learn in the first morning after marriage that she had to defecate in the open with other ladies of the village.

She revolts against this evil social system and standing by her side as a strong pillar of strength is her husband, Keshav. Keshav goes against all the villagers including his fathers to eradicate this evil social system. The villagers are dead against of having a toilet in the compound of their house.

The film then takes a politician turns and Keshav and Jaya had to fight against the society for proper sanitation at home.

Anupam Kher plays a pivotal role in the film. He supports Jaya and Keshav in their endeavor. ‘Toilet-Ek Prem Katha’ highlights the importance of sanitation in rural areas. The story has been inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’.

The trailer of Akshay's ‘Toilet: EK Prem Katha’ stamped the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) chief Pahlaj Nihalani. Mr Nihalani watched the trailer and loved it. ‘Toilet: EK Prem Katha’ is slated to release on August 11. The film is directed by Shree Narayan Singh.
