Toilet Ek Prem Katha: Akshay tries to cheer-up Bhumi in ‘Gori Tu Latth Maar’ song


A new song from Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar starrer film ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ is out and it is titled ‘Gori Tu Latth Maar’. As the title suggests, the song is set in the backdrop of Latth Maar Holi that takes place a few days before the actual Holi in neighbouring towns of Barsana and Nandgaon near Mathura, Uttar Pradesh.

The song opens with Bhumi’s character Jaya tells Akshay’s Keshav over the phone never to call her. So, Keshav reaches Jaya’s place seeking her forgiveness. He apologise for his mistakes and plays Latth Maar Holi with her. There is also a scene where Akshay’s character is seen addressing the people of his village telling them whether his wife comes back or not, he will bring toilets and sanitation in the village.

‘Gori Tu Latth Maar’ is a duet sung by Sonu Nigam and Palak Muchhal, while the music has been composed by Manas-Shikhar.

In the film, Akshay falls in love with Jaya and marries her, but she leaves him after finding out that there is no toilet in her in-laws’ place and that they go to nearby fields to answer nature’s call.

Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, ‘Toilet - Ek Prem Katha’ is based on the rampant issue of open defecation in certain villages. Co-produced by Akshay and Neeraj Pandey, the movie also stars Anupam Kher, Sana Khan and Divyendu Sharma. The film will open in theatres on August 11.
