2013's last big release: Aamir, Katrina starrer ‘Dhoom 3’

Advance booking has been opened as the year’s last big release Yash Raj banner’s ‘Dhoom 3’ hits the screen worldwide today. It is a perfect year ending as well as Christmas and New Year gift for the cine-lovers. ‘Dhoom 3’ the third installment of the successful franchise ‘Dhoom’ stars Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra in the lead.

Aamir Khan plays the role of a magician cum smart thief and Katrina Kaif an acrobat and his partner in crime while Abhishek Bachchan reprises the role of a police inspector and Uday Chopra as his assistant. Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, ‘Dhoom 3’ is the costliest and highly anticipated film of the year. 'Dhoom 3' was well promoted and the film promises high dose of stunts, romance, thrill, emotions, tricks etc.

There are reports of the ticket price hike but Aamir Khan denies the report saying ‘Dhoom 3 ticket price is same as ‘Chennai Expresss’.

"There is no truth in this (about increase in ticket prices). The price range of Dhoom 3 tickets is same as what it was for Chennai Express... Not even a percent increase is there on ticket prices," Aamir told reporters here.

"The ticket prices change as per shows... Like in morning the rates are less, week days the rate is less," he explained.

It is the first Hindi film to release in IMAX. "The only difference is that an Indian film is getting released in IMAX. There are four-five IMAX theatres in India, including two in Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bangalore. The ticket prices of IMAX theatres are more... I don't know what are the normal tickets rates in IMAX," Aamir said.

Made on a budget of 100 crore approximately and to be released in 4000 screens in India, the film is expected to cross 300 cr mark at the box-office.

"There is a possibility of the film crossing the Rs 300 crore mark. But we will have to wait and watch," said Rajesh Thadani of Multimedia Combines.

Only time will tell whether 'Dhoom 3' will able to beat the box-office record of 'Krrish 3' and 'Chennai Express'.
