The trailer of the much-awaited and controversial movie ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ was unveiled and it showed how the former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was controlled by congress party and the then party president Mrs Sonia Gandhi. The film is sure to draw controversy and Anupam Kher essays the pivotal role of Manmohan Singh.

From the trailer, we can conclude that Anupam Khan has gone a good research on Manmohan Singh and he very well absorbs his posture and gesture. Anupam Kher nails it as former PM Manmohan Singh.

The trailer looks very absorbing. The film is based on Sanjay Baru’s memoir, of the same name, was released in 2014. In the film, Akshaye Khanna plays the role of Sanjaya Baru, who was the media advisor of Manmohan Singh back then.

The 2-minute-43-second long trailer sees Aahan Kumra as Priyanka Gandhi and Arjun Mathur essays the role of Rahul Gandhi.

The former PM’s media adviser Baru had earlier spoken to Indian Express about the biography and said, “The book humanises him. It brings him out as a human being. The younger generation today thinks of him as some kind of robot, a statue. The ‘Singh is King’ image is gone. He has become an object of ridicule, not admiration. I am showing him as a human being, I want there to be empathy for him.”

Anupam Kher had revealed details about his preparation to IANS and said,“The opportunity of portraying a contemporary personality like Dr Manmohan Singh in The Accidental Prime Minister is an immense challenge for me as an actor. He is part of a 24/7 media era where world knows his persona minutely. I have been internalizing this character for the past few months. I look forward to translating that effort into cinematic reality.”

Talking about her role in the movie, Aahana had told the Indian Express, “I am beyond excited to play this role. It is important that we get the look right because a lot of characters from this movie are real people from our system.”
