Actress Swathi Reddy clashes with mother at police station

Telugu starlet Swathi Reddy and her mother Nagendramma clashed at a police station in Hyderabad on Friday, after the latter filed a missing complaint about her daughter.

In her complaint registered at Banjara Hills police station, Nagendramma alleged that Guntur resident Srinivas Reddy, who is already married, had lured her daughter Swathi away from home. She also alleged that Swathi took all cash and gold ornaments from their home.

Police summoned Swathi, who has acted in movies like ‘Backbench Student’ and yet-to-release ‘Love’, over phone minutes after the compliant was lodged. When the actress arrived at the police station, she informed that she was not a minor and had every right to choose her partner. She further said that she was in a live-in relationship with her friend.

Her mother accused her of abandoning her for a married man. The mother-daughter got into a scuffle at the police station. The came to blows literally and police had a tough time pacifying them.

Local news channels flashed videos showing Swathi and her mother attacking each other at police station.

Speaking to the media later, Swathi reportedly stated that the complaint filed by her mother was false as she did not know anyone by the name Srinivas Reddy. She said that her mother filed the complaint against her only for money. She also clarified that nobody had forcibly taken her away and that she had left on her own.

Swathi's mother later claimed they have reached a compromise and settled their differences.
