Technicians disrupt 'Parinita' shoot


Sanjay DuttThe producer of art films like 'Kareeb' and '1942- A Love Story' Bidhu Vinod Chopra is now working on a new film 'Parinita' based on a Bengali novel of the same title written by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay. Recently, Bidhu reached Kolkata for the shoot, but it had to be stopped following an
agitation by the Technicians Association of Tollyganj.

Chopra said that he had planned to finish the shooting of this film within sixty-two days in West Bengal but due to the technicians' agitation it might be delayed beyond the scheduled time. The technicians of Tollyganj have made a demand for providing work to the local technicians.

However, Chopra claims that local technicians are not co-operating with him. So, he has decided to meet the Chief Minister of West Bengal to intervene and solve the matter. 'Parinita' is said to be the first Hindi movie to be completely shot in Kolkata. Sanjay Dutt and Saif Ali Khan are acting in the lead roles in this film. 'Parinita' is based on the story of a married woman's life. The famous Bengali novelist Sarat had written a novel in 1940 and Bimal Roy had produced a film in 1962 with famous actors Ashok Kumar, Meena Kumari and Nutan in lead roles.
