Team ‘Golmaal’ celebrated 10 years of the its film – ‘Golmaal: Fun Unlimited’, in July last year, when the film’s spokesperson made the announcement about the fourth film in the series. However, Kareena Kapoor, who was part of ‘Golmaal Returns’ and ‘Golmaal 3’, dropped out owing to her pregnancy. The makers then roped in the ‘Ishqzaade’ actress.
Tabu is a great actress and is acclaimed for her performance is serious movies like ‘Haider’, Chandni Bar’ and ‘Maqbool’. She has also acted in light-hearted films like ‘Biwi No. 1’ and Chachi 420’. She has always expressed a wish to be cast in fun roles in interviews.
“If I am doing a certain kind of cinema that does not mean I hate the other kind. People will talk about only what is working and they get stuck with that. Personally, as an artiste I never do any discrimination. If I am offered a 'Golmaal 4,' I'll run and do it," Tabu had once said.
Speaking to a leading daily about her casting, Tabu said that she is a fan of Golmaal films. “I wasn't shocked or surprised when I was offered the film. I have always loved the Golmaal series and was quite excited about being a part of it. Ajay (Devgn) is a friend and I also know the remaining cast, and working with friends is always wonderful," she told the daily.
The successful Golmaal films follow the exploits of its main characters – Gopal, Lucky, Madhav and Laxman, and the initials of their names comprise the films' title.
The release date for ‘Golmaal Again’ has not been announced yet, but makers are eying the Diwali 2017 slot.
