Taapsee Pannu to play Aamir’s daughter in ‘Dangal’

The ‘Baby’ actress Taapsee Pannu will play perfectionist Aamir Khan’s daughter in a biopic based on wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat. At first, Kangana Ranaut was said to have approached for the role but later the report turned out to be false. Kangana said that she was never offered the role.

Dangal was never offered to me. I’d love to work with Mr Khan sometime soon, but we aren’t working on Dangal together,” said the 27-year-old actress.

Now, the latest grapevine suggests that it’s not Kangana but Taapsee Pannu was approached to play Aamir’s daughter Geeta Phogat in the film.

The inspirational film will be directed by Nitesh Tiwari and is based on wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat who coaches his two daughters, Geeta and Babita Phogat to make a mark in the sporting. Geeta Phogat is India’s first woman wrestler to have won at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Names of four girls were discussed but Taapsee has finally grabbed the meaty role.

‘Dangal’ will hit the floor in mid 2015 and the film will release in 2016.
