Sushant Singh Rajput injured while practising for MS Dhoni’s biopic

Actor Sushant Singh Rajput who will portray the character of Mahendra Singh Dhoni in an upcoming biopic on the cricketer has reportedly suffered injuries while training for the film.

The actor has been undergoing rigorous physical training to authentically represent the character of India’s most successful cricket captain. While practising for the helicopter shot that Dhoni is famous for, the ‘Kai Po Che!’ actor apparently fractured his ribs.

A source close to the project said, “He has been working hard to get into the skin of the character and in doing so, he fractured his ribs and was out of action for more than three weeks.”

Sushant, who was last seen in Dibakar Banerjee’s ‘Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!’ is being trained by former Indian wicket-keeper Kiran More for the film. The actor also did some net practise along with Dhoni, who has also been helping him perfect his body language and mannerisms, the source revealed.

The ambitious project titled ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’ is being directed by Neeraj Pandey, director of 'A Wednesday' and 'Special 26'.

However, neither Sushant nor the director was available for a comment.

The film, earlier proposed to be released during Dusshera was pushed ahead to next year as shooting had not begun. It is now slated to go on floors soon in the cricketer’s hometown Ranchi where it will be majorly shot, according to the source.

‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’ also stars Alia Bhatt in the role of Dhoni’s wife. John Abraham, Sidharth Malhotra, Ranveer Singh and Gautam Gulati will also feature in the multi-lingual film to be made in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and other foreign languages.
