Sunny Leone all set to make Telugu debut

It looks like Sunny Leone’s popularity is not just limited to Bollywood. She is in demand down south as well. Recently it was confirmed that Sunny has landed her first acting role in India outside Bollywood. She will be making her Telugu debut in the film ‘Current Teega’.  Directed by G Nageswara Reddy, the film stars Manoj Manchu and model turned actress Rakul Preet in lead roles. Though not in the lead Sunny will be playing an important role in the film nevertheless. Sunny accepted the role because she felt there was some scope for her to showcase her acting and entertainment ability. In her statement to the media she said, "I am really excited about my role in Current Theega. It's an important character created to entertain you thoroughly”.

The film is being made under the banner of 24 Frames Factory. The production house has made a statement regarding her involvement in the film, “The production team believes Sunny Leone is a big entertainment factor buzzing the cinema today and we wanted to introduce her in Telugu cinema in a role that will appeal every movie buff in this part of the world.” ‘Current Teega’ is the first film from the production company that does not star Vishnu Manchu. This time he is working as a producer. The makers are looking to use Sunny Leone’s new found popularity to create buzz about the film.

Sunny’s southern exploits are not just restricted to Telugu cinema only. She will also be seen in the Tamil comedy thriller film ‘Vadacurry’ starring Jai and Swati Reddy. Sunny will be making a special appearance in an item song.  Apart from the south Indian projects, she is working on several Bollywood projects. Her action film ‘Tina and Lolo’ is currently in post production and will release later this year. A comedy film ‘Mastizaade’   is also in the pipeline.

Sunny Leone’s journey in Bollywood has been an interesting one. When in 2012 it was announced that she will be making her debut in Bollywood with ‘Jism 2’ there was some apprehension in the industry.  No one was sure what impact she will make because of her adult film background. Some even protested that having an adult star in an industry like Bollywood is unethical. But with time she has won more and more fans. Her last film ‘Ragini MMS 2’ was a critical failure but a commercial success.  As of now it looks like she is here to stay.
