Suniel Shetty quits ‘Hera Pheri 3’ following creative differences

It appears that the third instalment of the comedy franchise ‘Hera Pheri’ is jinxed as one after another, actors are leaving the project.

After Akshay Kumar stepped back from ‘Hera Pheri 3’ apparently due to monetary issues, another crucial actor of the series Suniel Shetty has walked out of the project due to some disagreements with the creative team of the film.

A source close to the actor who played the role of Shyam in the earlier series, said the lack of planning annoyed Suniel. "The script of the film hasn't been finalised. The shoot was to begin by June 12 in Nagpur which was later shifted to Mumbai, but the shooting has not yet begun.”

The team had also moved to Dubai for the first leg of shooting that was scheduled for a month. But the filming was wrapped up within two to three days. A lot of time was being wasted due to the back and forth and that was why Suniel quit the project, the source added.

However, director Neeraj Vohra denied the report and said the actor has not walked out of the project. Producer Firoz Nadiadwala and Suniel were not available for comment.

‘Hera Pheri 3’ has been facing a lot of casting issues since the beginning. Akshay, who was interagal for the sequel of the 2006 film ‘Phir Hera Pheri’ refused to come onboard. ‘Dostana’ actors John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan were roped in where John is supposed to fill in the shoes of Akshay, who played Raju in the earlier series.

Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty reprised their roles as Baburao Ganpatrao Apte and Shyam respectively, but now even Suniel has reportedly left the project.  It was also reported that Irrfan Khan, who was a new addition, was unceremoniously ousted from the project without his knowledge and was replaced by Abhishek. Riteish Deshmukh was also approached to fill in for Akshay, but he had declined as nothing about the film was planned.

‘Hera Pheri 3’ has been tentatively set for a release on December 18.
