‘Sultan’: Salman Khan reacts to Arijit Singh’s Facebook apology

Salman Khan has finally spoken up on the controversy around Arijit Singh's version of the track ‘Jag Ghoomeya’ being removed from his upcoming film ‘Sultan’.

The superstar and the popular singer apparently had a tiff way back in 2014. Last month, Arijit posted an open letter on his Facebook wall, and apologised to Salman and requested him to retain the song sung by him in ‘Sultan’. Arijit later deleted the post.

During a promotional event of ‘Sultan’, when Salman was asked about Arijit’s song being dropped from the film, the actor refused to recognise the singer saying, “Who’s that?” After a long pause, the ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ actor said that it was the directors and producers who take the final call on the singer.

"In every movie, there are lots of singers who are replaced. People come and sing. It’s directors and producers who then make the choice that who would be the best voice for the film. One voice was mine as well. My voice was also rejected. They shouldn't be upset, its life," Salman said.

Taking a dig at Arijit’s Facebook post, Salman added, "…And then come those smart comments and posts. So the intention is understood why it has been written."

According to reports, the soulful love song ‘Jag Ghoomeya’ was initially recorded by Arijit. But after the singer miffed Salman during an award function years ago, the song was re-recorded in Rahat Fateh Ali Khan's voice. Salman has also crooned another version of it.

Salman has always supported and mentored new talents in Bollywood, but those annoyed him have had to bite dust.

The Ali Abbas Zafar directorial also stars Anushka Sharma, Randeep Hooda and Amit Sadh and is slated to release on July 6.
