‘Sui Dhaaga’ Trailer: Varun Dhawan, Anushka Sharma sizzle as small-town couple

The trailer of ‘Sui Dhaaga’ Made in India was unveiled and it sees Varun Dhawan as Mauji and Anushka Sharma plays his wife Mamta. The trailer is a motivational watch. It shows how an unemployed Mauji with his hard work and inspirational wife Mamta made their own embroidery and stitching business. The couple fights all barriers to make their own stitching shop which gradually turned to be a big factory.

The performance of Varun and Anushka are truly appreciating. They played the lower middle-class couple with perfection.

The film is said to be inspired from PM Modi’s ‘Made In India’ campaign.

Manan Mehta, VP – Marketing and Merchandising, YRF had said, “To position our film Sui Dhaaga – Made in India, we realised that it was just not enough to act like a film marketeer. In fact we had to look at ourselves as a team marketing the art and handicraft culture of our country. With this embodiment of our strategy we needed an idea that would be the fulcrum of our entire campaign. And what could be a better idea than inviting the artisans of our country to design the logo of our film. We reached out to 15 uniquely skilled artists/artist groups across the lengths and breadths of our nation who helped us design our film logo. It has been an exhaustive and most rewarding experience for all of us at YRF. It has taken six months to plan, research and execute our logo in 15 different styles that celebrates our country’s diversity and entrepreneur spirit.”

In a recent interview to PTI, Varun said, “I approach even my fictional characters as biopic characters. I am playing a tailor in Sui Dhaga. It’s not based on a particular person but it’s based on my observations of common people and how they go to work.”

Producer Maneesh Sharma said that Varun and Anushka savored the chance to go out of the comfort zone for their upcoming film. “Varun and Anushka relished the chance to go out of the comfort zone of being portrayed as glamorous stars. Mauji and Mamta are salt of the earth characters and these characters gave our duo the chance to really push themselves as actors,” Sharma said.

Directed by Sharat Katariya of ‘Dum Laga Ki Haisha’ fame and produced by Maneesh Sharma and YRF and, ‘Sui Dhaaga’  is set to hit theatres on September 28.
