Suchitra Sen’s condition serious, shifted to ICU
Legendary actress Suchitra Sen admitted to hospital on Sunday after she complained of breathlessness. "She complained of breathlessness in the evening after which she was taken to the ICU," a source at the super-speciality Belle Vue Clinic said.
"Her heartbeat has become high. The two lungs are congested. We are trying to reduce the heartbeat," the nursing home sources said here.
Ever since Sen retired from film industry, she disappeared
from public eye. Over these years, she has been living a private life, stays
inside her apartment and do not meet any outsider. The 82-year-old actress was shifted to the ICU
after her condition deteriorated on December 23. However, her granddaughter
actress, Raima Sen, said she is better now.
A five-member-committee led by cardiologist, Dr Subrata Moitra was formed at Belle Vue to monitor the
health of the actress. Every minute the board members are monitoring her health.
Sources said Suchitra Sen also has diabetes which further complicated the
matter. She is living on antibiotics and oxygen.
Sen 82, begun her career with ‘Shesh Kothai’ in 1952. She was honoured with National
Award for her performance in the 1955 for ‘Devdas’.
She completely cut herself from the world when in 1978 her movie, ‘Pronoy Pasha’
with Soumitra Chatterjee flopped. In 2005, she conferred with Dadasaheb Phale
award but Suchitra Sen refused the prestigious award as she was not keen to
make a public appearance.
