My sister my mother my best friend my darling Sujata Kumar as she battles for her life inside. Please join me and my family in our prayers for her”.

The actress is a cancer survivor and it is unfortunate that the Big C revisited her. After beating the ailment, she made comeback with Gauri Shinde’s comeback film, ‘English Vinglish’ and played Sridevi’s elder sister. My earlier projects are not worthy of mention and where I had meaty roles the film flopped miserably.

Sujata is all praise for Sridevi, she said in an interview, “Sridevi is a great human being. She is a sweetheart. I am so proud that I played her elder sister. We are not blood sisters but there was a great rapport between us. I found her very down to earth and we bonded well."

Post ‘English Vinglish’, she offered Krishika Lulla and Aanand L Rai's ‘Raanjhanaa’ (2013) followed by Karan Johar's ‘Gori Tere Pyar Mein’ (2013). Sujata Kumar also starred in multiple TV projects like Hotel Kingston On Star One and Bombay Talking on Zee Café. She was also seen as Megha Singhania in Anil Kapoor's 24 on Colors.
