SRK, Gauri join Karan Johar for his birthday in London

Filmmaker Karan Johar, who turned 44 on Wednesday, rang in his special day with his close friends in London, where he is currently on a vacation. Superstar Shah Rukh Khan and his wife Gauri, filmmaker Zoya Akhtar, Shweta Bachchan Nanda and others, including Karan’s mother Hiroo Johar joined him for a small party.

Karan’s friends landed in the Queen’s City last weekend, and celebrated the birthday of one of the most loved directors of Bollywood at a London hotspot that Karan booked especially for his birthday.

Unlike other years, this time the head of Dharma Productions didn’t throw a big bash. Talking to a leading daily earlier, the ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ director had revealed, “It's not really a party; I haven't even sent out any invites. It is just about spending time with a few friends, as we are all in the same city at the same time. So, we will meet for dinner. It is not a big bash, which it is being made out to be. People I love will be with me, and I also love those who will not be able to make it. I don't want to celebrate my birthday like a teenager, and get overexcited about it."

Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif who had been shooting in Morocco for Anurag Basu's Jagga Jasoos were also present. "The Morocco schedule ended on Sunday after which they left for London. Katrina will spend time with her family as well," a Pinkvilla report quoted a source as saying.

Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor who have been holidaying in London since last week, also attended the celebrations, so did Sidharth Malhotra.

Meanwhile, other Bollywood celebrities like Shabana Azmi, Farah Khan, Manish Malhotra, Anushka Sharma, Varun Dhawan, Bipasha Basu, Dia Mirza and others have also wished the filmmaker on his birthday on the social media.

Karan’s upcoming directorial ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ will hit theatres on October 28 on the occasion of Diwali. The movie about unrequited love features Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Fawad Khan among others.
