Sridevi’s mortal remains likely to reach India shortly


Sridevi’s mortal remains will be reaching India shortly on a chartered flight. Her cremation is likely to take place today later in the afternoon. Once the body will reach India, Bollywood celebrities and close ones will pay their last respect.

“Boney Kapoor, Jhanvi, Khushi and the entire Kapoor, Ayyappan and Marwah family is deeply bereaved and shocked with the untimely loss of Sridevi Kapoor," a statement, issued on Sunday evening by Yash Raj Films (YRF) on behalf of the family, said. "They thank the entire media for their prayers, support and sensitivity during their time of grief. Late Sridevi Kapoors body will arrive in India tomorrow,” it said. 

"We will update you on all further information as and when it's available to us," a spokesperson for Sridevi's husband, the producer Boney Kapoor, said in a statement.

The autopsy was completed last night and Sridevi's body is yet to be handed over to her family in Dubai.

Major Habib from the Dubai police department told that the autopsy certificate could be received from the government by 8:30-9 am Dubai time (10-10:30 am IST). Once the report is clear, the mortal remains would be handed over to relatives and they can flew her to India.

Sridevi 54 died of a cardiac arrest in Dubai, where she had gone to attend her nephew's wedding. Boney Kapoor and her younger daughter, Khushi, went with her while her elder daughter Janhvi will stay back to preparing for the debut film.

There is no medical opinion yet on the cause of Sridevi's death.

"Boney Kapoor, Janhvi, Khushi and the entire Kapoor, Ayyappan and Marwah family is deeply bereaved and shocked with the untimely loss of Sridevi Kapoor. They thank the entire media for their prayers, support and sensitivity during their time of grief," the statement read.

"Request you to kindly reach out to us on everything related to this and we urge you to please not call the family for information on the same."
