Sridevi’s daughter Jhanvi to debut with Karan Johar’s remake of ‘Sairat’
Actress Sridevi and producer Boney Kapoor’s eldest daughter Jhanvi Kapoor is all set for her Bollywood debut, and going by the buzz, Karan Johar will launch her in his remake of Marathi blockbuster ‘Sairat’.
Karan has bagged the Hindi remake rights of ‘Sairat’, which released in April, went on to become the highest grossing Marathi film ever and was declared an All Time Blockbuster at the box office. The movie revolves around a young and innocent couple who faces violence and oppression because of caste difference. The fil has become a landmark in the history of not just regional cinema, but Indian cinema as a whole.
A report in DNA claimed that the ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ director has finalised Jhanvi, who will be launched with the film, which will be co-produced by his Dharma Productions and Zee Studios, which had also produced the original film. The film is slated to go on floors next year.
It will be interesting to see how the hot and glamourous star kids step into the role of a raw and rustic village belle, played by Rinku Rajguru in the Marathi version and bagged a National Award-Special Jury Award / Special Mention (Feature Film).
Karan had previously launched star kids Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan, and Siddharth Malhotra, whose careers have taken off successfully. It is also said that he might launch Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s daughter Sara in one of his films.
