Sridevi starrer ‘Puli’ release delayed

Tamil fantasy drama film ‘Puli’ starring Sridevi which was earlier slated to release in July has been delayed by over a month as final touches to some scenes are yet to be finished.

Confirming the news, ‘Puli’ producer Shibu Thameens said special effects for the film have not been completed. “We finished the first schedule in January and shot all those scenes which required computer graphics. These were then sent to nine studios in countries like Denmark, Russia, Ireland, Ukraine and Armenia in February. Technicians have been working on the VFX for the last five months,” he said.

Shibu said that the film was wrapped up in May but they are yet to finish with the special effects. “So now instead of July, the film will release towards the end of August,” he added.

Meanwhile, since the teaser came out, everyone has been raving about Sridevi's look as a queen. The 51-year-old actress who made her Bollywood comeback in 2012 with ‘English Vinglish’ is now geared up to spread her charisma down South with the Chimbu Devan directorial, after a long gap of two decades.

The adventure fantasy is said to be based on Russell Crowe’s ‘The Gladiator’ and it also stars Ilayathalapathy Vijay, Hansika Motwani and Shruti Haasan.

Hansika plays the role of Sridevi’s daughter in ‘Puli’, while Shruti Hassan is also returning to Tamil cinema after her 2012 film ‘3’.

The music for the film has been composed by Devi Sri Prasad who also composed for Salman Khan starrer film ‘Ready’.
