Sridevi shares an old film still of her with late Jayalalithaa
Bollywood empress Sridevi was among the many film-stars who paid tribute to late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, who passed away on the night of December 5 after a prolonged illness. The ‘English Vinglish’ actress tweeted a still of an old Tamil film, in which she had shared screen with the late actress-turned-politician.
Sridevi had started out as a child artist in Tamil cinema and had worked with Jayalalithaa in the devotional film ‘Aathi Parashakti’ in 1971. Jayalalithaa played the role of goddess Shakti, while Sridevi played her son lord Murugan. Sridevi shared the still of her sitting on Jayalalithaa’s lap, in memory of her late co-star.
The 53-year-old actress shared the memory on Wednesday and wrote, “The most articulate dignified, cultured & caring lady, lucky to have worked with her. I Along with millions of our people will miss her.”
Earlier, the night after Jayalalitha passed away at Chennai Apollo Hospital, Sridevi expressed her condolences for the departed soul by tweeting, “A great leader who drew huge respect,love,adulation & worshiped by millions of followers,the country will surely miss Jayalalithaa Amma. RIP.”
Jayalalithaa was a leading actress of her times and has shared screen space with several top South Indian actors like M. G. Ramachandran, Gemini Ganeshan, R. Muthuraman and Ravichandran. She also worked with Bollywood actor Dharmendra.
