Soundarya Rajinikanth to direct brother-in-law Dhanush in ‘VIP 2’

Filmmaker Soundarya Rajinikanth will be teaming up with her brother-in-law Dhanush for ‘VIP 2’, the sequel of the actor’s 2014 hit Tamil action drama ‘Vella Illa Pattathari’.

The younger daughter of Tamil superstar Rajinikanth announced this on Twitter, along with a clip of the motion poster, on Wednesday. “Proud to be directing @dhanushkraja in this Cult Franchise for @theVcreations & @WunderbarFilms_ #D33 #BiLingual #Tamil&Telugu,” Soundarya tweeted.

Soundarya began her film career as a graphic designer and made her directorial debut with 'Kochadaiiyaan', India's first motion capture film, starring father Rajinikanth and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles.

Dhanush also shared news with the motion poster on Twitter writing, “#D33 bless us @soundaryaarajni @theVcreations @RSeanRoldan @anirudhofficial #bilingual Tamil and Telugu.”

The film's regular shooting will commence from December. The bilingual project will be bankrolled by ‘Kabali’ producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu. Sean Roldan will compose the music for the film, while Anirudh Ravichander's background score from the first part will be retained in the sequel.

‘Vella Illa Pattathari’, reffered to as ‘VIP’ was about an engineering graduate who waits for his big break in civil engineering space. He is unwilling to take up any other job not related to his field of study and remains unemployed for years.

The movie was Velraj’s directorial debut and featured Dhanush and Amala Paul in the lead roles, while Vivek, Saranya Ponvannan, Samuthirakani and Surabhi played supporting characters. The film was one of the biggest hits of the year.
