Sony Pal to telecast new show ‘Yeh Dil Sun Raha Hai’

On September 1st, the Multi Screen Media (formerly known as SET India) launched a new Hindi channel for general entertainment called Sony Pal. The focus of the channel is mainly towards women and family oriented stories. Initially the channel had a slow start as it had to compete against a host of established channels like Star Plus, Zee TV and even its sister channel Sony entertainment television.

According to Anooj Kapoor the business head of the channel, Sony Pal has set a target of 50 GRP’s (Gross Rating Points) for the next fiscal. In order to boost its viewership, the channel is launching a new show from Balaji Telefilms, the production house of leading producer Ekta Kapoor.

The show is a love story and it is called ‘Yeh Dil Sun Raha Hai’. The plot revolves around Poorvi (played by Aparna Dixit) and Arjun (portrayed by Navi Bhangu), who despite having contrasting backgrounds and initially dislike, fall for each other. The new show will hit the air on 16th October. Both the channel and the producer are hopeful about the new show.

Anooj Kapoor said, “We are extremely thrilled to join hands with Ekta Kapoor – the lady who has revolutionised Indian television. ‘Yeh Dil Sun Raha Hai’ marks another milestone for the channel. At Pal, our endeavour is to present shows that not only celebrate womanhood, but are also engaging and relatable to the modern woman. We are confident that this show will further strengthen our primetime.” He also added, "Ekta's show will serve as a double booster for the channel because: it's Ekta's show - she makes good shows in the GEC space and is aligned with the vision of the channel - and because the show is launching at 7 pm, a time slot when people start tuning in to the channel. Once the show starts to resonate with them, it will propel the audiences to other programming time slots. I think it's a timely booster for the channel and our rate of growth will go up even more post this launch."

On the other hand, Ekta Kapoor said, “We are all geared up for yet another interesting show which presents an exceptional love story. Through this story, we want to show our viewers how the relationship between two individuals survives the test of time. I am extremely delighted to start this relationship with Pal, and I am sure, with the launch of ‘Yeh Dil Sun Raha Hai’, we will create magic on Indian television.”
