Sonam Kapoor, Tabu, Akshayee Khanna in Sanjay Dutt biopic
It was revealed a few days ago that Sonam Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor, who debuted together with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Saawariya’, will be reuniting on-screen after almost 10 years for Sanjay Dutt’s biopic. However, the ‘Neerja’ actress has refused to speak about it.
Sonam stated that she can’t speak about her next projects until the makers make an official announcement, but she mentioned that she would love to work with Rajkumar Hirani, who will be directing the biopic.
“I would like to work with Raju sir (Hirani) in whatever capacity I can,” Sonam, hinting about her being cast in the movie.
Reportedly, Sonam will be cast opposite Ranbir, who essays the ‘Munna Bhai’ actor. She will play an actress of the 1990s whom Sanjay Dutt had dated. “Sonam’s character is not reflective of any particular woman but is a fictional amalgamation of the many women Dutt dated through the 1980s and 90s,” a source was earlier quoted as saying.
Reportedly, Tabu has also been approached to play Sanjay Dutt’s mother and late actress Nargis, while Akshayee Khanna will play her on-screen husband and Sanjay Dutt’s father late Sunil Dutt.
The film will also bring back Ranbir’s ‘Bombay Velvet’ and ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ co-star Anushka Sharma, who will play the role of a journalist.
The biopic will go on floors in 2017.
