Sonam Kapoor, Radhika Apte to romance Akshay in ‘Padman’

Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte have been roped opposite Akshay Kumar in R Balki’s ‘Padman’, a biopic based on social tycoon Arunachalam Muruganantham who took the pride to invent the first low-cost sanitary napkins in India.

Arunachalam Muruganantham will now be immortalized on-screen by talented actor Akshay Kumar. Radhika Apte was already signed and now joining the cast is Sonam Kapoor. Sonam met R Balki and finalised the project.

Sonam, 31, shared the good news of starring in ‘Padman’. "Thrilled to be a part of this prestigious project. #Rbalki @akshaykumar @missfunnybones @radhikaofficial #padman," Sonam captioned the film's poster.

This is the second time Sonam is working with Akshay. Previously, they have worked in 2011 film 'Thank You'. The biopic ‘Padman’ will also mark Akshay's wife and actress-turned-writer Twinkle Khanna production debut. She will produce the film under her new banner Mrs Funnybones Movies.

The social revolutionist Arunachalam Muruganantham  already found place in Twinkle's new book book 'The Legend of Laxmi Prasad'. She has accounted the inspiring story of Arunachalam Muruganantham in a short story, The Sanitary Man.
