Sonakshi Sinha attacks critics over ‘weight’ issues

Sonakshi Sinha burst into the Bollywood scene with the blockbuster ‘Dabangg’ alongside Salman Khan. Her unconventional yet pretty looks did not fail to charm audiences. Soon news came to light that prior to becoming an actress she was a costume designer and also weighed 92 kg.

Despite being the daughter of former Bollywood leading man Shatrughan Sinha, she never thought of becoming an actress. But then she came across Salman Khan who urged her to lose weight and try her luck on the big screen. Sonakshi did heavy workout for about two years and lost 30 kg weight. The rest is history.

However a few years into her career she stopped working out because she felt in her own words, "I reasoned that after working all day I didn't need to work out." As a result she gained some weight and since then a section of the media and fans have been continuously criticizing her over weight issues.

Although she kept mostly quite on the issue, Sonakshi began working out again and the result has begun to show. Perhaps this positive development has given her a new found confidence as finally she lashed out against her critics on social media site Instagram. Two weeks ago, she posted a photo of a skeleton on Instagram and wrote with it, “To all those who keep commenting on my weight, whether its a full picture, or a close up where you cant see jack. Take a good look at this picture. Now get this: 1) this ain't ever gonna be me. 2) get over it. 3) i wish u could see which finger i hold up for shallow and idiotic people like yourself.(sic)"

Apparently she was not done yet as few days ago she followed it up with another post. This time she posted a photo of her wearing a body hugging dungaree and wrote, "Fashion police no likey my #Diesel #denim #dungarees... But wait.. #idontgiveadamn coz i luuuuuuurve em.(sic)" It looks like Sonakshi is not willing to let the critics throw their ‘weight’ around anymore.

Sonakshi’s actions from Instagram found vocal support from young star Parineeti Chopra. Parineeti posted on Twitter, “Deepika speaks against a demeaning article. Kangana rejects any fake awards. Anushka sportingly writes about her lips. Sonakshi shows a finger to the fashion police. I showed an ignorant (sex and periods) journalist his place. So proud and glad that actresses are not afraid to stand up to hypocrite journalists who demean them. They speak their heart and demand their respect!! GO GIRLS!!!However, not all journalists are so. Just those who only care for masala headlines. RESPECT those who believe in responsible journalism.(sic)”
