Soha not fida over Shahid

Soha Ali KhanNot surprisingly, heartthrob Shahid Kapoor has been receiving loads of (female) fan-mail where they hated the idea of him gunning down his scheming premika (Kareena Kapoor) in Fida after all the hype over their
off-screen affair.

“But they also enjoyed the shock-value of the negative twists and my performance. My strategy was to break the lover-boy image right from my second film so that the audience would expect something different from me every time.

Soha Ali Khan and Shahid Kapoor in Dil Maange More
But when Milenge Milenge releases, I guess cinegoers will be thrilled to see both Kareena and me in our lovey-dovey characters minus the negative vibes,” counters Kapoor who is shooting for Dil Maange More, a romantic comedy directed by Anant Mahadevan where he is paired with three babes.

Was it true that there are frequent ego-clashes on the sets between Kapoor and his debutante heroine Soha Ali Khan?

The Ishq Vishk aashiq has a naughty twinkle in his eyes. “Yes, our screen-characters in DMM keep clashing over issues because Soha is literally high-flying.

She wants to be an air-hostess and being career-minded she eventually jilts me. But since I am fida over her, I don’t give up so easily (laughs). But off-screen we share a fabulous rapport. It’s strange, but Soha’s style and mannerisms remind me of her sibling Saif Ali Khan.

Although she has an illustrious lineage, she is very cool and unassuming. And a spontaneous actress,” enthuses Shahid.

Ansh to turn director

Easily the most hated character on telly-screen, TV star Akashdeep Saigal, who plays the villainous lead role of Ansh in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, is now gearing up to get into film direction.

“My ultimate aim is the big screen, both as an actor and director. The script of my movie is being finalised and it should go on the floors in the near future,” informs Saigal who has acted in Bollywood movies like Pyar Mein Kabhi Kabhi and Supari.

“Those were forgettable frivolous film roles because I was not even noticed. It’s thanks to Kyunki... that today I am recognised globally by Asians,” says the long-haired actor.

Criminal turns cop

Singer-turned-actress Vasundhara Das who has several chartbusters to her credit including It’s the Time to Disco (Kal Ho Naa Ho) is also honing up her acting skills with intense roles that defy her glamorous off-screen image.

The light-eyed playback singer, who made her screen-debut with Kamal Hassan’s Hey Ram and then made waves with her smooching scenes in Mira Nair’s Monsoon Wedding, is now waiting for the release of this Sahara movie Filmstar directed by Tanuja Chandra.

“It’s an intense role of a girl who is convicted for murder and Mahima Chaudhary is hellbent on making me share my traumatic tale,” informs Das who is a staunch Tamilian but is often mistaken for a Bengali, thanks to her surname.

Ironically, after playing a qaidi, the exuberant actress is now shooting for Patthar Bezubaan where she plays a small town police superintendent in uniform against the backdrop of stone quarries. “It’s an intense role as an investigating cop with different shades to my character,” she discloses.

Ek aur Yana?

When the results of the Zee item bomb hunt for the item number with Sanjay Dutt who plays Billa in Musafir were announced, it was a foregone conclusion that a younger version of Yana Gupta would make it.

Simply because Gupta had confided that he was zeroing on “a slim dancer with the stunning looks of Yana”. Eventually, this ballet dancer-girl from Dubai called Tatsinya (she belongs to Belarus in Eastern Europe) who looks like Yana’s sibling, was singled out from the dozen finalists.

While some of the desi bombs were damp squibs, what seemed rather ridiculous was the ‘mere star-face value’ jury who merrily indulged in whimsical ratings of the contestants on a scale of 10.

Luckily for Tatsinya, there is no lip-sync because the item-song Tez Dhaar is more of a dialogue-gaana recited by Sunjay Dutt. No wonder the female phatakas Sameera Reddy and Koena Mitra in Musafir did not display any item bomb-scare.
