Salman Khan’s ‘Tubelight’ earns Rs 117. 61 cr in one week

Salman Khan-starrte ‘Tubelight’ has completed its one week at theatres and has crossed the Rs 100 crore. Although it failed to impress critics and has had the lowest opening weekend for a Salman Khan film, the actor’s star-power has buoyed the film. Fans of the superstar are ensuring the film’s success.

The film, which has been termed as a “disappointment” by critics, collected Rs 64.77 crore in three days, crossed the Rs 100 crore mark on its sixth day on Wednesday, June 28, by collecting 106.86 crore. On Thursday, the film raked in Rs 10.75, taking the seven days total collection to Rs 117.61.

Though the figure is not at all bad, but there was a huge hype surrounding the movie and considering that it is a Salman Khan film, the expectations were high. Moreover, the film also marked the big screen reunion of Salman and Shah Rukh Khan after a gap of 15 years and an infamous brawl between the duo.

‘Tubelight’ also stars Sohail Khan, Chinese actress Zhu Zhu, late actor Om Puri and child artiste Matin Rey Tangu. It is set in the backdrop of Indo-Sino War of 1962 and tells an emotional story of a man with special needs and his special bond with his brother. The film is said to be an adaption of 2015 American movie ‘Little Boy’.

Kabir Khan, who previously directed Salman in blockbusters ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ and ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, has directed the film.
