Singer Ankit Tiwari set to marry on 23 February

Playback singer Ankit Tiwari is all set to enter into wedlock on February 23. The girl named Pallavi Shukla. She is a mechanical engineer and has been residing in Bangalore for the past 10 years. Ankit’s grandmother played the matchmaker.

“I’ve introduced her and her family to my work and life in Mumbai where she will live after marriage,” says Ankit. 

According to a report, Ankit’s grandmother met Pallavi Shukla on a train from Kanpur to Delhi last year in October and she realized that Pallavi is the perfect match for her grandson. The wedding date was fixed within three months.

The 'Sunn Raha Hai Na Tu' singer was in Kanpur on Thursday for his 'yagyopaveet,' a ceremony that is conducted normally before a marriage.

On being asked about the rituals, Ankit’s mother Suman Tiwari, said, “Hamare yahan yagyopaveet bahut important occasion hota hai. Yagyopaveet ka mahurat bahut mushkil se nikalta hai aur saare arrangements shaadi ki hi tarah hote hain. Bas bahu nahi hoti hai”

The couple will get engaged on February 20 and after that haldi, sangeet and mehendi ceremonies will take place. Ankit and Pallavi will tie the knot in a North Indian style on February 23 in Kanpur, followed by a reception on February 26. The families will throw a reception in Mumbai once Ankit returns from his Delhi, Chandigarh and Kolkata tours by the month-end.

“Usually weddings in our family last 10-12 days, but Ankit doesn’t have the time. His shows are booked months in advance and we worked around his dates,” Ankit’s older brother Ankur was quoted as saying.

In 2017, Ankit and his brother Ankur Tiwari were acquitted in 2014 rape case. A 28-year-old woman filed FIR against Ankur Tiwari. The complainant said that Ankur had raped her several times between 2012 and 2013 on the pretext of marrying her while Ankit’s brother threatened her.

“I feel relaxed” is the first thing that singer Ankit Tiwari after the verdict.
